My Pastor's Advice
My pastor, Tim Cowin, is the eldest child in his family and so am I so I am sure that you already know that we both have strong personalities. Our favorite thing to do is debate. Whether its politics, doctrines or my life decisions we always have to agree to disagree. Growing up I must confess that I thought most of his knowledge and opinions where crazy or that he just like to hear himself talk. But the older I get I must confess that I am realizing how he has been right on a few subjects. One of the things that I have been seeking lately in my life over these past few months is simple to be used by God. I am an A- type personality. I am agenda, project, schedule motivated. But lately I just want God to show up. Timothy always told me that I stress WAY too much and that I am always trying to grow up to fast. He would tell me all the time to relax and stop trying to do sooooo much, because everything has to be done in God’s timing. I use to think he was telling me this so I would leave him alone or something because I have always been a person who wanted to do A LOT!!!!. But here is what I am finding out, when you let go and let God and do things in his timing and let him be the boss he will Bless more than I can ever try to do something on my own.
Tonight we had our first service of prayer and worship (Praying @ The Vine)at the church I am attending in KC. God organized it, God gave the workers and God brought more people than I ever expected to attend (I was expecting 20 He brought for His own Glory 75). I just let God be in control and Jesus Christ did His thing. It was WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY better than I thought it was going to be; from the beginning of the planning of this even I gave it to God and He blessed my socks off. Here’s what I am starting to be more confident in when it comes to my faith. If from the beginning of any process or project or anything that you do in life, if you will let God do it- HE WILL.
when I think about the Lord
how He saved me, how He raised me
how He filled me with the Holy Ghost
how He healed me to the uttermost
when I think about the Lord
how he picked me up
turned me around
how He set my feet
on solid ground
it makes me want to shout
hallelujah! Thank you, Jesus!
Lord, you're worthy
of all the glory, and all the honor
and all the praise!
Hallelujah! Thank you, Jesus!
Lord, you're worthy
of all the glory, and all the honor
and all the praise!
(Ephesians 2:4-7, 2 Corinthians 5:17)
